News From Jacob M. in Yangon, Myanmar.

Thank you very much for your prayers for us.
You heard about Cyclone Nargis! When this terrible cyclone hit us we were out of the city. My wife and I were visiting a dear brother in Christ who came to know Jesus through reading one of our CLC books. He went on to study at a Bible Institute and has now been church planting for the past three years in a remote village in the far north of Myanmar. He had invited us to visit him and we were assisting with a 3 day discipleship training course for the 15 church members there. The cyclone did not affect this village so we only found out about it when we returned to Yangon on Monday.
Except for some minor damage to houses, there was no loss or casualties among our CLC members, families and friends . We all are safe in the hands of the Almighty great and good Lord. He is truly our protector and the one who sustains us.
It has been very difficult since Cyclone Nargis hit. As you might have learned from the news the death toll has risen to 27,000. Soon after we came home we traveled around the city to see the situation for ourselves. We saw thousands of survivors lacking shelter, drinking water, power and communications. Of course the situation is even worse in the towns of Bogalay and Laputta in the delta region.
A green and beautiful city was destroyed in just a few hours. Everywhere you look thousands of buildings have been flattened, power lines brought down, trees uprooted, roads blocked and water supplies disrupted. T he price of food, fuel and basic provisions increased dramatically – 2 or 3 times the normal price.
PRAISE the Lord that in the midst of devastation we can still see the hand of God.
PRAISE the Lord for the people who have survived, including us.
PRAY for the people who have lost families and relatives.
PRAY for the people who are in immediate need of shelter, clothing, clean water and food.
PRAY that people will be comforted and have their needs met and that, in their hearts, they will know the Living God and see His goodness; He is the true Saviour and the way of salvation. We want to use this time of difficulties to bring the good news to the people in Myanmar.
Thank you very much.
Jacob”
