A word from Dave Almack US Field Director... Thank you for your generous prayer support of our ministry and missionaries. Praise the Lord with me for the recent news of a couple who came to know Jesus as their savior through the ministry... Read_more |

THIS MONTH PRAYER REQUESTS |

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, June 1 Mon. Venezuela: Pray for the new CLC shop in Puerto Ordaz that opened in April. Manager Marelis de Martinez comes from the CLC bookshop in San Felix. Please pray for Marelis as she adjusts to working in this town and gets to know the customers and local churches. 2 Tue. Ecuador: National director Carlos Marin asks for prayer for the ongoing work of improving the shops in different areas and the building up of a strong CLC team. “May our passion for the ministry, and our concern for those whom we serve, grow daily. It is a privilege to work with Christian literature.” 4 Thu. New Zealand: CLC New Zealand meets June 5–7 for annual conference. Pray that they will be guided by the Lord as they elect leaders. (Allan Welch will be stepping down from leadership and leaving CLC following this conference.) Pray for creative ideas for the future, grace to weather the current economic difficulties, and power to be a source of spiritual strength for their customers. 5 Fri. India: In January this year, six trainees were accepted as junior staff, joining six other trainees in the mission. Pray for God’s guidance for all twelve newcomers as they learn the different areas of ministry in ELS. 6-7 Sat./Sun. USA/Central Asia: Pray for Jim Pitman and Lewis Codington as they travel to two Central Asian countries. CLC hopes to open a new bookstore in one of the countries while they are there. They will also be participating in the CLC Russian-speaking conference during the last part of the trip. Pray for wisdom and discernment as they visit and encourage the different teams there. 8 Mon. Indonesia: From the 8th to the 12th of June, the CLC team in Surabaya will be holding a book table in an evangelical theological seminary. Pray that this event will encourage and help the students as well as provide good sales for CLC. Both the bookshops in Surabaya and Medan hope to increase their distribution of stock this year, and we are asked to pray that they will be able to meet their distribution target for 2009. 9 Tue. Russia: Roger Jones and Julia Shabalina are attending a CLC conference for Russian-speaking workers later this week. Pray that they will be refreshed spiritually, emotionally and physically. Both of them have many responsibilities in the shop in Moscow, a city in which life is very demanding. Pray for the rest of the team, who need to staff the store and cannot attend. May they know blessing and encouragement from the Lord as well. 10 Wed. Canada: CLC Canada’s status as a tax-exempt organization is recognized by the federal government, but not by the municipal government, so we are obliged to pay almost $40,000 per year in property taxes. Our attorney has advised us to take legal action to overturn this ruling. We are gathering documentation to present our case. Please pray for this important, but delicate, issue.
