THIS MONTH PRAYER REQUESTS |

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, MAY 1 Thu. Colombia : The annual International Book Fair in Bogota is taking place at the moment (April 23–May 5). This is a secular event with up to 20,000 visitors each day. Please pray for good health and strength for the CLC staff who are attending this event with a bookstall. Pray for opportunities to speak to people and recommend books that will have an impact in their lives. 2 Fri. Australia: During the first weekend of May the Celtic Festival is held in Glen Innes. There is a strong satanic influence attached to this event. Please pray for the protection of the CLC shop staff at this time and ask God to use our ministry to meet some of the needs of people visiting the festival. 3–4 Sat./Sun. U.K. : In our early days CLC was the book ministry of the mission Worldwide Evangelisation for Christ. Though we have now separated, we still maintain close ties. May 5th is the annual WEC Open Day and hundreds of people attend. CLC has a bookstall there and also seeks contacts with those interested in our work. Please pray that the Lord will use that time to lead us to the right people. Also, from May 12–16 the U.K. team will meet for their Annual Conference in Ashburnham. There are many matters in which we need the Lord's guidance. Please pray for a blessed time of fellowship and that the Lord will meet with the team as they bring the agenda before Him. 5 Mon. France: Christian Askew will be leaving CLC ( Grenoble ) at the end of April. We pray the Lord will guide him in his future plans. At the beginning of May, Denis Couderc, who is currently the head of purchasing, will be taking over as Manager of the Grenoble shop. We are praying for someone to replace Denis in the buying department—please pray with us as it is such an important appointment. 6 Tue. Benin : Emmanuel Ladeyo asks us to thank God that the bookshop in Cotonou reached its sales target for the year ending March 31. Please pray that God will continue to inspire and motivate the team there to work well and that they continue to see improvements in the months to come. 7 Wed. International Office: Please pray for the Trustees of the International Office as they meet today in Sheffield . They have the responsibility of ensuring that the funds received by the International Office have been used correctly. They also act as an advisory body to oversee the vision and direction of the International and Area Coordinators. 8 Thu. Netherlands and Austria : Els Oosterhuis writes: “Annelies den Hartog, manager for the Arnhem bookshop in the Netherlands , had an operation in April and she is still off work recovering. Annelies has only been working part time recently, and is due to retire early next year, so we urgently need a new manager for Arnhem . Please pray as we continue to make this need known.” And in Austria , Ilse, a part time worker in the shop in Graz , has just had a knee replacement operation and will not be able to return to work for about 10 weeks. Please pray for a full and complete recovery for her. Pray for the remaining staff and volunteers in these two shops while Annelies and Ilse are recuperating. 9 Fri. France: From July or August of this year CLC France will have a new Director, Hervé Lessous. Hervé and his wife are new to CLC and they will probably be visiting the Headquarters and wholesale staff this weekend while looking for a house in the area. Jean-Daniel Linsig, the current Director, will move to work in the Valence shop in September. The shop will once again be open full-time and Jean-Daniel will be responsible for increasing sales so that it can continue full-time! He will also be in charge of publishing. Jean-Daniel and his wife are also house-hunting in the Valence area. 10–11 Sat./Sun. U.S.A. : Praise the Lord for new workers in our Moorestown and Chestnut Hill stores! We are grateful for God's provision of enthusiastic and willing servants. Please pray for these workers as they become acclimated to their new work environments and pray they will grow in their burden for people who come into the bookstores.
