|
A word from Dave Almack US Field Director... This month is a time when our world often reflects on issues of love and marriage because of Valentine’s Day. We are often asked in our stores for books that deal with these issues and are blessed to make recommendations that we pray will have a lasting impact... Read_more |

THIS MONTH PRAYER REQUESTS |

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, February 2010 1 Mon. Africa: Liz Patten, regional director for Africa, plans to visit the CLC teams in Sierra Leone, Benin and Togo this month. She will also meet in Liberia with representatives from Oasis Distribution (a US-based firm) to discuss a potential new partnership with CLC for retail distribution in Liberia. Please pray for safety in her travels, good fellowship, understanding in the discussions and wisdom in decision making. 2 Tue. Myanmar: Please pray for Jacob Mung and the CLC team in Yangon. The facility that houses the bookshop, main offices and publishing is being rebuilt. Pray for provision and protection as the work goes on in temporary facilities. Pray for the publishing projects they have taken on this year and for good sales in the bookshop. Also pray for the safe arrival of a shipment of donated books and Bibles from Christian Booklink USA. 3 Wed. Austria: Magdalena Spinotti, a part-time helper since 2005, joined CLC Austria as a full-time member in November. This was an answer to prayer, as a new staff member had just resigned unexpectedly. Magdalena will take time off soon to complete a university degree but plans to return full time with CLC afterward. Please pray for her as she gets used to working full time, and pray for a good last term at university. 4-5 Sat./Sun. USA: Pray for Jim Pitman as he represents CLC later this month at Missions Fest Lancaster in Pennsylvania. Well-known speakers such as Steve Saint and exhibits by over 60 mission organizations, will seek to open people’s eyes to the mission needs and opportunities around the world. Pray that many will be called to serve God in missions as a result. 6 Mon. Thailand: Praise the Lord for a missionary family who are in the process of applying for a visa to work in Thailand. They may be able to help out in the English department of the CLC bookshop in Chiang Mai—a need we have been praying about for several years now. There is also a Thai man who has been training with CLC in Chiang Mai who is now working for CLC in Bangkok. Thank you for praying! 7 Tue. Australia: Three of the regular volunteers at CLC Glen Innes are moving away this year and a fourth may have to cut back on work due to health issues. Please pray for more volunteers in 2010. Pray too for the new CLC shop in Dar-win. It is a four-hour flight from our head office in Brisbane and therefore somewhat isolated. Pray for Sue Rowe and her team of volunteers as they seek to provide Bibles, Christian books and other materials for the lo-cal population. 8 Wed. Indonesia: CLC Medan in Indonesia has occupied a three-story commercial building in a busy location for almost 25 years, but our lease expires in March 2011. The owner, a Christian, plans to sell the property. Our options seem to be to buy it or look for a new place to rent. Please pray for wisdom for Frans Kairupan and the team as they pray and plan for the future of CLC Medan. 9 Thu. Benin: CLC Benin often has problems transferring payments to suppliers in France and Switzerland. Emmanuel Lad-eyo, manager of the bookshop in Cotonou, asks us to pray for an improvement in this situation. Please pray too for plans to expand the work in Benin—we want to take on another full-time worker to help with outreach and find a suitable location for a second shop. 10 Fri. Romania: Praise the Lord for the children’s bi-lingual Bible published recently by CLC Romania. The team is grateful to God for the help and support of other CLC countries and the International Office which enabled us to complete this project. Please pray for good sales of this book and that God will provide similar projects in the future. There is a CD that goes with this Bible, and the team is investigating the possibility of producing a version of it in Romanian. GREAT TOOLS FOR YOU FROM CLC BOOKCENTERS
