Canada – Praise the Lord that National Director Rod Fowler, his wife Kathy and another CLC staff member, Mireille, are safe and well following a car crash last week when the car they were travelling in was hit by a truck. Having spun around out of control, the car crossed two lanes and came to a stop facing oncoming traffic, but protected by the central reserve. The car was damaged beyond repair but all three passengers escaped with minor bumps and neck injuries. As Rod said in an email the day after the event: “… Sitting in the emergency room waiting to be checked out, and again waking up this morning, the reality of how quickly things can change is definitely more real now. Being able to come home, see the boys again, sleep in our own bed and wake up to a new day – Grace! And an overwhelming thankfulness to God that we three were given the opportunity to see another day.”
CLC International - Neil Wardrope and the Regional Directors (Gary Chamberlin, *Romualdo Macinas, Liz Patten and Lewis Codington) will be travelling to Venezuela for meetings next week 26-29 January. Gerardo Scalante will not be joining them as his travel is restricted until he has his US Green Card. Please pray for them as they meet to discuss many issues facing CLC around the world. They will be joined by Graham Ince, the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees for CLC International.
Please remember the Venezuelan team as they prepare for the official opening of the new Warehouse and Headquarters in Valencia next Friday evening, the 29th. They have a busy week ahead with the Regional Directors visit and also they will be hosting a conference for around 100 booksellers and publishers next Thursday and Friday.
*At the time of sending this Romualdo (CLC Philippines) was still waiting for his visa to be approved to travel to Venezuela. It may be that he will be unable to attend the meetings. Please pray that everything will work out for the best.
Ecuador – CLC Manta, the new bookshop mentioned last week, opened for business on the 16th of December and trade is doing well. Today, Friday 22nd, the shop is hosting a meeting for local pastors and tomorrow will be the official opening of the shop. Members of the Leadership Committee for CLC Ecuador will be travelling to Manta for this event. Pray for Patricia Cabrera, the shop manager and her assistant Jose Hidalgo during these busy and exciting days as the new ministry is established.
India – The CLC/ELS team in India meet for their Annual Conference in Vellore at the end of next week (29th -31st) Please pray for them as they review the work so far and make plans for the future. Pray too for good fellowship and that the Lord would encourage and guide them through the times of prayer and Bible study as well as in the business meetings.
Occasionally there are difficult situations for CLC teams that for various reasons can’t be mentioned in a widely distributed communication like this. Currently there are a few people going through real struggles, and while information isn’t available to everyone, the Lord knows all about it; please bring these CLC teams before Him in prayer. Perhaps you could pray the words of the Lord’s Prayer, from Matthew chapter 6, over these people and situations
