This Week @ CLC - January 15, 2010
‘Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tyre?’ Corrie Ten Boom
Ecuador - For some months CLC Ecuador has been planning to open a bookshop in the city of Manta. I have just found out that the shop is already open! I will pass on more details when I have them. Please pray for Carlos Marin and the rest of the CLC team in Ecuador – and in particular for the staff of the new shop.
Stock Taking – At this time of year many of our CLC shops and warehouses carry out their annual inventory. Some will have already gone through this process at the beginning of January but the majority will be working on this at the end of the month. Please pray that all will be done efficiently, accurately and joyfully – even if it is a demanding and sometimes tedious task!
Uruguay – Arturo Rojas has written with recent news of the CLC team in Uruguay. Last weekend Melany Prochnau, the daughter of staff members Roberto and Celeste, was married and the whole CLC team attended and enjoyed the event. On Sunday the Prochnau’s other daughter Marcy was admitted to hospital for an operation to hopefully correct problems following surgery for a benign brain tumour removed almost a year ago. Please pray for the whole family at this time; Roberto and Celeste are now taking annual holiday. Humberto and Neilda Urrutia are also currently on holiday in their home country of Chile. Carlos Fernandez is spending the second half of this month with the mobile ministry taking literature around various parts of Uruguay. Remember Arturo and the reduced number of staff left in the head office and shop at the moment.
USA – At the end of December Bill and Marge Almack (CLC Southeast Regional Office), accompanied by Jim Pitman and Tim Hurd, had the opportunity to take part in the 2009 Urbana Missions Conference in St. Louis. There were 16,200 registered delegates and of that number around 2,000 students indicated that they wanted to become Christians, or renew their commitment to the Lord and over 7,000 stated that they wanted to get involved in short or long term mission. Praise the Lord!
Of all those who stopped by the CLC stand to chat with CLC members and discover the opportunities to serve with us, over 70 indicated an interest in our ministry. Please pray for the follow up work that Bill, Marge, Jim and others may be involved in over the coming weeks. It would be great to see some of these people join CLC either for service in the United States or further afield.
