This Week @ CLC - January 8, 2010
‘We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties’ Oswald Chambers
Colombia – Please remember the CLC staff in Medallin and Baranquilla (town centre) as planned renovations to the bookshops take place there soon. Pray that all the alterations and decoration will be done well, and to schedule, without too much interruption to customer service.
Philippines – On Monday and Tuesday of next week members of the leadership team for CLC Philippines will be meeting to make plans for the year ahead. While they hope to concentrate on planning for 2010, they, and the Board of Directors, also have other issues to resolve at the moment which are causing concern. Please pray for Romualdo Macinas, the National Director. Romualdo writes: “Please pray for God’s guidance and intervention for all the situations, issues and concerns we are facing. I believe in God’s Sovereignty, so I thank God that it will come to pass. There are many lessons we can learn from every situation and I know it is for the good of the ministry later.”
Spain – Pray for Nacho Sanchez, the Director, and the rest of the CLC staff in Spain as they meet for a ‘mini-conference’ next week (January 15th -17th not the 8th – 11th as written in the current Prayer Focus). Neil and Sheena Wardrope from the International Office and Gary Chamberlin, the Regional Director for Europe, will also be attending. Please pray that the Lord will guide the team in all the topics to be discussed and plans to be made.
St. Lucia – A decision will need to be made soon about the future of the CLC bookshop in Castries. Praise the Lord for the faithful service of manager Marie Jules, and for the extra help and encouragement over the next three months as a couple from the United States, Bruce and Joanne Brooks, have volunteered to help both in the shop and by visiting local churches to encourage an interest among God’s people in Christian literature. Pray too for Marlene Ramroop (based at the Port of Spain shop, Trinidad) who has the responsibility for the CLC in Antigua, Dominica, Trinidad and St. Lucia.
UK – Phil Burnham writes: “Amanda Lutes arrives from Canada today, Friday, praise the Lord!! Please pray for her as she settles back to UK life and gets used to her new surroundings and role (which will be divided between CLC Ipswich and producing the CLC World magazine). Pray that she will soon find a suitable place to live as well.
Please pray in particular for Phil (Director), Tim (Admin) and Brian (Finance & Retail) as they juggle the 1001 things that need attending to as a result of the arrival of 6 shops and their staff into the CLC family. Past experience shows that it normally takes about 3 months for a single shop to be taken over by CLC. On this occasion, the timeframe from the start of negotiations to completion has been just three weeks and there are six shops not just one.”
USA – A number of CLC members from around the world will be attending Christian Trade Association Trade Show in Atlanta, 10th-12th of January. Please pray for safety in travel and worthwhile meetings – both in large groups and individual conversations.
